Interferon Research of Dr. Samuel Graf

New York Presbyterian Hospital

For three generations, spanning nearly half a century, the Milstein family has maintained a relationship with Columbia University’s medical science research programs. In 1962, Morris and Rose Milstein established a Chair at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. In the 1970s, the Milsteins funded the pioneering interferon research of Dr. Samuel Graff. The first international conference on interferon had only a handful of attendees. Thirty years later, 5,000 participants attended, demonstrating the ongoing promise of the early research funded by the family.
